World Menopause Day Sets Stage for Milwaukee’s

Menopausal Health Conference on November 14

MILWAUKEE, WI — In recognition of World Menopause Day on October 18, A Woman’s Harvest invites women, menopause health professionals, and community leaders to the Menopausal Health Conference on November 14, 9:00-4:00pm at 821 N 27th Street, Milwaukee, WI. The Menopausal Health Conference is a multi-discipline and multi-cultural event featuring segments on perimenopause and menopause basics, Indigenous healing, holistic care, sound healing, and menopause legislation.

World Menopause Day was founded in 2009 by the International Menopause Society and the World Health Organization with goals to educate the public, encourage open conversations, challenge workplace taboos, and provide medical and lifestyle support options. This years’ theme of “Chronic Pain At Midlife” highlights the need for better recognition, research, and evidence-based care. The Menopausal Health Conference is part of this ongoing menopause movement to support greater understanding of a crucial life transition. It will bring together women, healthcare practitioners, researchers, and holistic health professionals for a day of learning, dialogue, and shared experiences focused on menopause and midlife wellness.

Approximately 75 million women in the United States are currently in a menopausal state (peri or post, in the 45-64 age range). This number does not include early or surgical menopausal women. An estimated 6000 women a day reach menopause (defined as the day a woman has gone a year without menstruating).

In Wisconsin, an estimated 750,000 women (aged 45-64) are in a menopausal state. In Milwaukee County, it’s about 109,400 women, and 62,400 in the City of Milwaukee.

Globally, women are living longer and can expect to live a third to half of their lives after their menopause. Yet the vast majority of women and health care practitioners don’t learn much about this critical life transition. Misinformation, stigma, and a lack of resources continue to leave many navigating their transition without support. By and large, marginalized women may not have the opportunity to even discuss their midlife transition with a doctor.

World Menopause Day provides an important opportunity to elevate awareness, improve understanding, and encourage women to seek reliable information and care.

“Our goal with the Menopausal Health Conference is to provide information women can use to better help and advocate for themselves. We want to facilitate a direct conversation with menopause health professionals and their care population that will lead to improved listening, understanding, and care of their clients and patients,” said a spokesperson for A Woman’s Harvest. “By creating space and opportunity for education and sharing, we can overcome the stigma and gloom associated with menopause.” Designed as an interactive experience, the event will feature expert speakers, panel discussions, workshops, networking opportunities, community resources, and wellness-focused activities.

The conference welcomes women aged 30 to 80, including those preparing for menopause, currently experiencing symptoms, or interested in sharing their wisdom and lived experiences with younger generations. Organizers also invite healthcare professionals seeking a deeper understanding of menopause and patient-centered care. Those seeking CE/CME credit will receive a certificate of attendance for their participation. A Woman’s Harvest has submitted education to Pinnacle Conference LLC for consideration of CE/CME approval.

There is no charge for community members to attend, reflecting A Woman’s Harvest’s mission to make menopause education accessible and inclusive.
